Hey guys,

Today, I’ll be talking about a back to back to back to back girl group battle! Who are our heroins for today? It’ll be DSP’s maknae girl group APRIL, Produce 101’s IOI, JYP’s fierce girl group TWICE and Woollim’s fresh girl group LOVELYZ. These girl groups happened to have promoted at the same time! Its going to be a fierce battle, but, in terms of the charts, TWICE emerged to be on top. But, since I am here to talk about these beautiful girls, I would be disregarding their standing in the music charts. Shall we begin then?

First up, we have APRIL.

To be honest, by far, this is the most amazing song APRIL had released. The entire album is fantastic, I loved every single song in their second mini album ‘Spring’, specially ‘눈을 뜨면’ (When I Open My Eyes).

The title song, ‘Tinkerbell’ is very catchy, the music is very fresh and alive, I loved how my baby, Yena, got lines, she got real singing LINES! She’s even the center. Their live outfits are cute as well, they really looked like real fairies, specially Yena with her hair.

I really like how they match the color green so well. Actually, Korean netizens said that APRIL chose a wrong time to have a comeback because of a very stiff competition, they’re actually competing with VIXX, APink’s Eunji, IOI and Twice which are all battling for the number 1 spot. Well, these netizens are right this time, ‘Tinkerbell’ is a very cute and warm song, perfect for spring. I just wish APRIL success in the coming years.

Here’s a glimpse of my bias, Yena the squirrel.

Here comes IOI!

Its not surprising how IOI really became an instant hit after the success of Produce 101. These girls have worked so hard just to debut and reach this far, and what do you know, its actually paying off! IOI is doing pretty well these days, tv and radio appearances, commercials, etc. Now about the song, ‘Dream Girls’, which actually matched them perfectly! The song was really made for them! Although IOI is set to disband after 10 months, I’m pretty sure these girls will leave a huge impact in the kpop industry.

In their first mini album, I really liked ‘Doo Wap’ and ‘똑 똑 똑’. Their vocals are just so fine, it could always put me to sleep, that level of calmness and warmness. Anyway, I just want to give a shout-out to IOI’s choreographer, I felt bad for Yunjung because she only stood in the center once, she was deprived of the spotlight because of her previous issue regarding her stealing the spotlight from the actual centers, I felt bad for her. Nevertheless, the song is good.

Their live performance is magical! It felt like I’m watching a group of cotton candies dancing tho, they’re that cute and sweet.

Make way for my bias, Chungchung baby (Chungha)

Stop thinking once, you better think TWICE!

First of all, I want to congratulate TWICE for the success ‘Cheer Up’ has been achieving lately, continue to slay TWICE! The girls are so pretty as well, I cannot handle my feels. Don’t forget Sana’s ‘shy shy shy’.

Now, about the song and the dance, I would like to give only compliments to this song, the beat is so catchy, the dance is so amazing, their vocals are still powerful and cute at the same time, good job JYP!

Their stage outfits are really pretty too! TWICE is doing pretty well, they deserve it. Keep it up, Twice!

Here’s my precious baby, Mina.

Last, but definitely not the least, Lovelyz!

To be honest, I was a bit disappointed because I was expecting an upgrade from ‘Ah-choo’ and ‘For You’, it took me sometime to appreciate the song. But hey, its Lovelyz anyway! Too bad, just like APRIL, Lovelyz came back in a wrong time.

As expected, their dancing skills are still perfect and very sync. Mijoo actually got even prettier. The constant thing about these girls is that their stage outfits are always creative, kudos to the coordi noona as well! Go go go Lovelyz!

My angel, Kei.

So yeah, its a tough decision, but I still made one. For me..

1st : APRIL – Tinkerbell

2nd : TWICE – Cheer Up

3rd : IOI – Dream Girls

4th : Lovelyz – Destiny

Well, this is my personal thoughts tho. Anyway, all these girl groups are the best!

KENNO’S KPOP MUSIC AWARDS 2015 BEST FEMALE ROOKIE GROUP

GFRIEND

Source Music’s 6 member girl group GFRIEND is the Best Rookie Girl Group of 2015! GFRIEND proved everyone that they’re not just a bunch of pretty faces, they’re talented and all are pros. GFRIEND might had a very rough start, from the nose job issues, to member SinB’s resemblance to Jessica (basically, some are saying she’s using the opportunity for attention), lip syncing and even Umji’s appearance shaming. These false accusations all vanished when GFRIEND exuded their hidden talents and their spirit of professionalism. GFRIEND once made international headlines when the group’s infamous ‘slipping on stage’ fancam went viral online, all the members, except leader Sowon slipped on stage, SinB had one bad fall while Yuju had 5 bad falls but kept performing. GFRIEND garnered praised for their act of professionalism.

GFRIEND’s music are no joke as well, even though a lot of netizens are criticizing them for not having singing talents except for the members Eunha and Yuju, GFRIEND’s songs are really worth listening to. My favorites are White, Glass Bead and Me Gustas Tu.

GFRIEND is prepping up for a January comeback, teasers are out and I’m really excited! I wish GFRIEND all the best.

Trailing really close to GFRIEND is JYP Entertainment’s newest girl group, TWICE. TWICE is a multi-national girl group, members are composed of Korean, Japanese and Taiwanese members. We all know that these girls battled it out at the survival program, SIXTEEN, just for them to debut.

Twice debuted with their hit track, “Like Ooh Aah”. When it was released on October, it went straight up to the charts, even today, their song is still going strong in various music charts. I actually liked their choreography, it matches every member well.

In my personal thoughts, member Tzuyu seemed to be following the same career path Miss A’s Suzy is going through, I hope this won’t overshadow the members. Tzuyu is currently in a controversy but I hope this doesn’t affect the group’s status. Members Nayeon, Jungyeon and Mina are all pretty, I think Mina is more likely to be my bias. I wish Twice all the best this year.

I was arguing with myself whether to place April, Oh My Girl or Lovelyz on the third spot, but in the end, it was April in the third spot for me.

April had a strong debut, there were so many expectations in the 6 member girl group of DSP Media. ‘Dream Candy’ did pretty well in the charts too, probably because of Chaewon and Somin’s fans from Baby Kara and Puretty. I was in love with the song as well.

Apparently, leader Somin left the group to pursue some other dream of hers. Leaving the 5 member APRIL behind. When April returned with ‘Muah’, it felt a little bit empty without Somin, Chaewon and Jinsol obviously did all the singing. April have good chances in surviving in this industry, I hope DSP Media would get back to their senses and promote their artists better. Kara had disbanded, Rainbow still needs to be promoted as they are not yet established well enough, AJAX too. I wish APRIL all the best and please give Yena real singing lines, she just had a two-syllable line in the entire song with ‘Muah’, the “Omo”. She’s a member not a back-up dancer. APRIL FIGHTING!

Notable Nominees:

  • Lovelyz
  • Oh My Girl
  • CLC
  • The Ark

Hey Guys,

This is Kenneth.

Born and raised in the Philippines on July 13th 1994, so basically I am now 21 years old. I am currently a 3rd year student of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Pulilan Campus taking up Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship.

I opened this personal blog so that I can be able to convey my feelings, thoughts and ideas I have in mind. To be honest, I am not that really good with such things but I’m here to explore the things that I can possibly do.

Hmm.. I guess, I have to tell a little bit more something about myself huh?

Kenneth is an alien, when I say alien, it means that the stuffs I do sometimes are out of this world that annoys other people lol. I love eating (well, who doesn’t), I love green stuffs (don’t get me wrong) my favorite color is green, hmm I’m a bit narcissistic (well, I love myself), I’m an active leader in our campus and I have represented our campus in various events/programs already, the Class President (in our class) and the acting Student Council President of the campus (there isn’t actually a formal election or stuff, our Director actually appointed me when I was in first year lol), during my free time I enjoy playing Clash of Clans, and most of all, I LOVE KPOP!

If we are going to talk about KPOP, I guess this post will not be enough. I’ve been a kpop fan ever since 2009, it started when I heard the news about my first love Sandara Park, I heard that she debuted in Korea as part of the girl group 2NE1. I have loved Dara ever since her SCQ days in the Philippines that is why I was so happy to learn about her new found career in her own nation, South Korea. The first 2NE1 song I’ve heard was “Lollipop” with BIGBANG, followed by the very addictive tracks Fire and I Don’t Care then the rest is history.

Today, I can really call myself a multi-fandom type of a kpop fan. After discovering 2NE1, it opened a lot of doors in the kpop industry for me, I couldn’t even remember when I started being a fan of other kpop groups that I’m into nowadays. After 2NE1 in 2009, there came a very similar talented group that just like 2NE1 I’ve started rooting for them even before they debuted, that group is BTOB. There are a lot of talented groups in Kpop but until now even if others may disagree, I would say that for me 2NE1 and BTOB is in the same level, same level of charisma, talent and they just both overflow with this feeling I can’t even explain by words. Until today, even if I’m loving so many groups now, only 2NE1 and BTOB had that impression for me.

Should I at least enumerate all the Kpop groups I’m a fan of? First, those whom have complete songs in my playlist, in the first tier 2NE1 and BTOB! I have all of their songs, pre-debut songs and even if they’re just featured in a song, my biases are Park Bom (I miss you Bommie!) and Peniel respectively.

Second tier, Girls’ Generation, biases are Hyoyeon and Taeyeon. AOA, bias is ChoA, VIXX, bias is Ken.

Third tier, BIGBANG, bias is Seungri, 4Minute, bias is Jiyoon, BEAST, bias is Hyunseung, APINK, bias is Bomi, EXO, biases are Baekhyun and D.O, Rainbow bias is Jisook, KARA, bias is Seungyeon.

Fourth tier, RaNia, bias is Alex, G-FRIEND, bias is Yuju, C-Clown, bias is Ray (too bad they disbanded), Girls Day, bias is Minah, WINNER, bias is Jinwoo, Orange Caramel, bias is Raina, GOT7, bias is Yugyeom (Happy Birthday Yugyeom!), F(x), bias is Luna, Dal Shabet, bias is Woohee, EXID, bias is Hyerin

Fifth tier, Miss A bias is Fei, DMTN, bias is Jeesu, APRIL, bias is Yena, LEGEND, bias is Jaehyuk, SISTAR, bias is Dasom, Red Velvet, bias is Joy, SHINee, bias is Jonghyun, Ladies Code, bias is Rise (rest in peace, my angel)

Special mentions: 9Muses, Noh Jihoon, G.NA, IU, Lee Hi, Joo, N-White, Spica, Hello Venus, Ailee, Tiny-G, Chocolat, U-Kiss, Secret, T-ARA, Playback, Twice, SKarf, CNBLUE, Gummy, BTS, NU’EST, Eric Nam, SE7EN, Wonder Girls, Davichi, Jewelry, Tablo, F-VE Dolls, G.I and Akdong Musician.

Can you guys even imagine how many songs I have in my playlist? lol. Anyway, I’ve been writing my first post for like 2 hours though HAHAHA.

Hmm.. at this rate, I think I’ve been talking for so long already so I’ll be ending my first post with this closing commemoration quote from me, “speak without judging, think with understanding”.

See you again!
